Online Video Poker Directory, Part 2 By J. Phillip Vogel

The choice of games continues to grow online. On one hand, we’ve got classic video poker games whose great payouts and excitement never go out of style. On the other hand, online casinos have slowly but surely been bolstering their selection with intriguing new, and equally compelling, versions. Let’s take a look at some of the newest—and oldest—video poker games found online.

New & Classic Video Poker Games
From perennial favorites to the latest video poker creations, online casinos are brimming with exciting video poker action. Check out this mix of classic games and their latest spin-offs.

Part 2 begins:
Power Poker Options
Power Poker is similar to traditional video poker except that players are dealt multiple hands of five cards each. One hand will be dealt initially and from this, players select the cards to hold or discard. When holding a card, those cards will also appear in the same position in the remaining hands. All hands subsequently have their remaining spaces replaced with new cards.

4 Play Power Poker
Basic description: Includes video poker versions played out in a four-hand grid. On the deal, players receive five cards face up—known as the decision hand—from which they hold or discard in an effort to make the highest winning hand. On the draw, the decision hand will shade out and four additional poker hands will be dealt, each using a separate 52-card deck and containing the same cards that were held from the decision hand. The hands are then completed and the highest combination is paid out for each winning hand.
Common game versions: Jacks or Better, Tens or Better, Double Joker Power Poker, Deuces Wild Power Poker, Deuces and Joker Power Poker, Aces and Faces Power Poker.
Betting Limits: Varies from $0.01 to $1.

10 Play Power Poker
Basic description: In 10-play versions of video poker, play takes place on a 10-handed grid. Play is identical to other power poker versions, with initial card selection for the decision hand affecting the result of all additional hands in the grid.
Common game versions: Aces and Faces Power Poker, Deuces and Joker Power Poker, Deuces Wild Power Poker, Double Joker Power Poker, Jacks or Better Power Poker, Joker Poker Power Poker, Double Jackpot Poker.
Betting limits: Games range from $0.01 to $5.00.

50 Play Power Poker
Basic description: In 50-play power poker, the action is intense, taking place on a 50-hand grid. As with four and 10 play power poker, players must make a decision regarding which cards to keep and which to fold with the initial hand. That decision subsequently affects the remaining 50 hands, which must retain the same cards for the draw.
Common Game versions: Aces and Faces Power Poker, Deuces and Joker Power Poker, Deuces Wild Power Poker, Double Joker Power Poker, Jacks or Better Power Poker, Joker Poker Power Poker.
Betting limits: Game denominations range from $0.01 to $5.00.

100 Play Power Poker
Basic description: Played on a 100-hand grid, this version of power poker offers plenty of action and potentially large payouts. Again, players must make a primary decision that is copied by each of the remaining 100 hands. 100 52-card decks are used, and the highest winning combination is paid out per hand.
Common Game versions: Jacks or Better Power Poker, Aces & Faces Power Poker.

Progressive Jackpot Games
Some of the greatest thrills in online gaming come from the potential to strike it rich in an instant. The following video poker games give players just such a chance.

SupaJax
Basic description: SupaJax Poker is a progressive video poker based on the standard rules of Jacks or Better video poker. A standard 52-card deck is used with one extra card, SupaJax, added. Betting limits: Minimum bet is $1. Maximum bet is $5.
Winning hands: Jacks or better, two pairs, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, royal flush, SupaJax plus four jacks.
Special features: A progressive jackpot is awarded for four jacks plus the “SupaJax” card.

Betting limits: Available in both $0.25 and $1 denominations.
Special features: A Royal Flush with a maximum bet wins the progressive jackpot, which begins at $1,000 for the $0.25 game and $4,000 for the $1 version.

Jackpot Deuces
Basic description: A progressive version of Deuces Wild, players are dealt five cards from a deck of 52. Deuces are wild and substitute to create winning combinations.

Betting limits: Minimum bet: $0.25; Maximum: $1.25.
Special features: Players may accept the payout for winning hands or try the optional doubling feature for a shot at more money.

Hybrid & Proprietary Games
In an effort to break the monotony, some sites (and software providers) experiment with unique hybrids or proprietary versions of video poker. If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different, check out these games.

Kooka Keno Video
Basic description: Kooka Keno Video Poker is set up like Joker Poker with a special feature game added. A deck of 52 cards plus a wild joker is used and players hold or discard cards to make the highest winning hand from five cards. The joker can be substituted for any card.
Winning hands: Payout is on two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, five of a kind, royal flush with joker and natural royal flush. Payouts for full house, four of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush vary depending on whether a joker was used.
Betting limits: Minimum bet: $0.10. Maximum bet: $100.00
Special features: Any winning combination of full house or better triggers a keno game. At the start of this bonus game, players choose one of four eggs to determine the number of keno games awarded, up to five. The ‘Kooka Keno’ board will then appear where players choose 10 numbers. Any wins will be awarded multiplied by the original bet placed.

Vegas Club Video Poker
Basic description: Vegas Club Video Poker is five-card draw with a 'Hot Roll' feature game added. A deck of 52 cards is used and the cards are shuffled at the beginning of each game.
On the deal, players receive five cards face up, then hold or discard to make the best hand.
Winning hands: Payout is on a pair of aces, two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush
Betting limits: $0.10 to $500.00
Special features: The dice icons display randomly at the end of each game. When three or more dice symbols occur, a ‘Hot Roll’ feature game is triggered. In this game, two dice spin and their total multiplied by the bet is awarded. One to three feature games can be awarded each feature game.

Wild Heart
Basic description: Based on Double Joker Video Poker, Wild Heart features three 54-card decks (one deck per each line), with the 53rd and 54th cards being the jokers or wild cards. Wild cards can be used as any card.
> Winning hands: Two pairs, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, five of a kind, wild royal flush, and royal flush.
Betting limits: $0.25 to $5.00 on each of three paylines.
Special features: Offers a progressive jackpot.

Although this directory includes a thorough mix of popular video poker versions found online, there are still many more options available for you to discover online.

Slots Review

1) Phoenix Gold: IGT. 7 spins. 85-98%.

For ‘nudge’ slot fans, this 3-reel single payline slot is sure to please.
If the screen reveals a single, double or triple bar symbols accompanied by arrows above or below the payline, then you are in ‘for a nudge’ towards a win. Additionally, there are multipliers that double or triple the jackpot plus two doubles=4X and two triples=9X. If you line up a Double and a Triple, you have entered 6X jackpot territory.
When a Phoenix Gold symbol arrives on the payline with max coin in play, the top box bonus event occurs with bundles of cash and arrows alit and a ‘Take Shot’ symbol.
Either you receive a bonus amount or if the ‘Take Shot’ is lit, you get a second bonus until the round ends. The two top jackpots consist of a single, double and triple symbol paying 2500 coins for max play or 3 triple symbols paying 4000 coins for max play. This game will prove ‘golden’ to players with the many win combinations offered up.

2) Pharaoh’s Gold: IGT 3 spins. 88-98%.

Another ‘golden’ slot from IGT, this game’s three right hand symbols in the middle row are always active. Each five coins bet activates one vertical row, therefore a 25 max bet allows the players a possible win 243 ways.
Of course, a max bet increases the numbers of ways you can win, however a quarter/spin will keep you in the game. Bonus features include free spins and wild symbols=mounting credits.
Three or more Pharaoh’s Gold symbols will set you up with free spins and possible re-spins.
This penny slot will accept a $12.50 max bet/pull for a big strike of $1250 while scatter pays result in a 100X payoff.
I suggest you start slow and increase your wager heading towards ‘the big gold strike’.

3) Passion Coast: Atronic. 2 spins. 88-94%.

There are 243 ‘Super Play’ combos waiting in the tropical setting before you by this graphically rich slot version.
You activate this Super Play Mode with a minimum of 30 credits/line or a lesser amount of credits allows winners on certain activated paylines.
At the time 3, 4 or 5 parrots are scattered from left to right, a bonus amount is paid and thus begins either 10, 15 or 25 free games at which time the Rio is wild. This wild symbol can pay out triple, 5X or 15X jackpots depending on which reel(s) it lands.
Respins are possible if 3 or more parrots appear on the initial freebie spin.
With the Super Play Mode option, you can ‘coast’ and then accelerate quickly resulting in numerous credits.

Jackpot Bulletin: Winning Stories

This Canadian Had to be Convinced

Kathryn Hill, 53 that day, selected a Monty Python and Holy Grail nickel slot at Seneca Niagara Casino to input her first $20 bill. The teacher from Paris, Ontario, Canada liked the Holy Grail symbolism and considered it “a good omen”, but “wasn’t convinced” even after receiving congratulations on her $1,306,669 win.
Unsure about how to spend her new found fortune, Hill says she will stay on the job for now.

Double Fortune—Vegas Style

There is no denying that Wheel of Fortune is the most popular progressive slot, but a double strike in Vegas proves the point.
First up is Kosta Geranis, 46, of Las Vegas who hit quickly at about 6PM at the Boulder Station for $694,498. at a quarter Wheel. This very slot machine had paid out previously for Geranis, but certainly not a MegaJackpot. Kosta’s future plans are to purchase land, pay bills while caring for his family.
Two hours later at the Golden Nugget, Celeste Baumert, 45, a CPA of Gretna, NE lines up a quarter Wheel just right for $204,030 and states her history with this particular slot.
“I played this machine the last time I was in Vegas and won a little money on it, so I decided to try again.” Baumert’s future in summed up with, “Buy a car for my son in college, make some investments, give some to charity and take a vacation.”

Morning Triple Win

Not to be outdone, Pechanga Resorts & Casino in Temecula, CA steps up with a Triple Win by one very lucky lady--Linda Goreham of Corona whose history is that of an original $25 slot player. Her first of the day was a $250,000 “Quick Hits” slot win. “I did it again”, she called out referring to the scene accompanied by bells and music for a $10,000 win. A triple win was in the wings--this time equally $12,000., thus translating to a cumulative win by noon of the same day of $272,000.
