Consider this advance information to think about before your next ‘reel adventure.’ Issue #121 begins this series of a total of 27 slots reviews with 7 slots to include the very popular Sopranos. It’s the feature article: Summer Catch-up: 7 Slots.

Also, I have included 3 newer online slot reviews.

Readers FYI includes a quick spin around the US and Canada for gaming news items and a couple of readers’ questions are answered.

Lastly, check out the latest Winners’ Jackpot Stories and the monthly Slot Payouts Report.

Feature Article: Summer Catch-up: 7 Slots

Slot descriptions/reviews are listed by Slot Name, Manufacturer, payout range offered, (low to high) and average hit frequency if available.

1) Lion Dance: IGT. 87-98%. 4 spins: Stacked wild symbols are the predominant feature of this Asian themed 40-line slot. These dominant groups of wild symbols land on various paylines resulting in ‘stacks’ of winning combinations and mounting credits. The free spin bonus rounds resulting in 5 to 15 freebies that can be re-triggered to extend this bonus event to hundreds of spins. Additionally, within this free spin round, the stacking wilds are at work to increase your credit tally. There are too many winning combinations to count while you are doing the ‘lion dance’. So sit back and enjoy the dance of the credit meter.

2) Super Huge 7’s: Wms. 86-96%. 2 spins: Playing all the lines is important here where multipliers are applied to winning combinations for an extra bet. Here’s how it works: the first ten coins activate each of the 10 paylines while a bonus bet of 5 credits per line is equal to a total of 50 credits for all. This total bet sets in motion the 4th bonus reel that carries multipliers of 2X, 3X, 5X and 10X that in turn are applied to winning combos on the primary reels. Lastly, for another 100 credits, you set the fifth reel in motion. So, for 160 credits, all bonus features are go including multipliers that can reach 100X on any winning spin. You have now qualified for Super Huge 7’s jackpot where three symbols can get up to a $400 prize for pennies. With all these winning combinations and credits waiting for your spin, this slot is indeed ‘super huge’.

3) Bewitched Spin: AC Coin. 84-94%. 2 spins: Add the familiar Slotto sphere with spinning balls like the lottery drawings, bonus balls and multipliers and you have the latest Bewitched version. Begin with the paytable of Triple Stars that includes 4 combinations of sevens plus a wild symbol and triple jackpots. Line up the 3 wild Triple Stars for the top jackpot of 100,000 coins. Now you have a combination of wilds and bonus Slotto balls. Line up 3 Bewitched symbols and a panel button flashes awaiting your touch. The game board is now set to land on either a multiplier or number of bonus balls. A multiplier of either 2X or 5X determines the first bonus ball at which time, the flashing continues until one, two or three bonus balls appear. Enter the slotto sphere that drops the total number of bonus balls received. There are 11 bonus balls total, 10 with credit amounts and one 2X ball that multiplies the total credits. Your credits are then calculated and the top possible award is 37,500 credits for this bonus event. Triple jackpots, bonus balls, multipliers – oh my – ‘tis ‘bewitching’ yes?

4) The Sopranos Slots: Aristocrat. 88-92%. 3 spins: You just knew this slot was going to ‘be a big hit’ with two versions available--Top Boss and Welcome to the Family. The three jackpot levels are Boss, Capo and Soldier with progressives starting at $10 for Soldier, $100 for Capo and top prize Boss ranging from $500 – 5000. For Top Boss version, Tony Soprano and Johnny Sack are bonus symbols. Two, three, four or five scattered Tony or Johnny symbols start the freebie games of five, 10, 20 or 50 where jackpots are doubled. Added features include a bonus top box, clips from the show and opening theme video. In Welcome to the Family, eight free games are yours with Tony, Paulie, Silvio and Christopher symbols changing to wild during the free spins. As with all Hyperlink games, a random bonus is possible along with the usual 3 progresssive jackpot levels. An additional version, Play to Get Made where you buy reels instead of paylines and all wins are scatter pays will be available shortly. These versions are definitely worth ‘singing about’.

5) Bankroll Diamond Edition: AC Coin. 87-92%. 2 spins: Anytime, there is a slot version that includes Double Diamond wild symbols, I will be there. Most slot players know that this symbol doubles any jackpot, however this paytable mixes in the usual bar, cherry and 7 symbols with a win of 1000 credits for five 7’s. Additionally, jackpots are doubled with combinations of two, three or four wild symbols. The bonus round begins when 3 Bankroll Double Diamonds appear and you press the flashing button to hear the music “Money, That’s What I Want”. At the end of the bonus event, the flashing arrow has stopped on either a credit amount or multiplier. If a multiplier is selected, there is added movement to choose a bonus credit amount to determine your final reward, otherwise if the credit amount is selected, it will appear on your credit meter. Five Double Diamonds grabs the top jackpot of 100,000 credits when playing max. coin. If you have missed DD’s, here is your chance to get back in the game.

6) Imperial Rome: Atronic. 86-92%. 4 spins: You are taken back to ancient Rome where Caesar is wild, 3 Coliseum symbols trigger a scatter award with 15 free games that can be re-triggered and there is a Wild Rain bonus round. While in the freebies round, the Caesar wild symbol doubles the jackpot of any winning combination. Also, should the arrow symbol appear, you begin the Free Game Wild Bonus where your choice of one of 4 options will bring extra credits. The Wild Rain bonus subs one symbol on each reel except the middle reel with a Caesar wild and re-assigns credits as a wild win rather than a standard win. This re-assignment of credits from standard to winning wild occurs during the High to Wild bonus when each high poker symbol has a higher credit count. Also, Wild Pays rewards 5 times the bet for each wild Caesar symbol on the screen.Hail Caesar! takes on a new meaning when playing this game.

7) Tahiti Magic: Aristocrat. 86-90%. 2 spins: This Polynesian themed slot has a Reel Power mode that you will want to explore. The basics are that the Polynesian girl symbol is wild while the parrot symbol starts the free spin bonus. Three or more parrot symbols on the reels rewards 15 free games and all wins are tripled. The wild and bonus features are the same in either basic or Reel Power modes. BUT, for an extra bet, this game transforms to Reel Power where all winning combos are now scatter pays resulting in 243 ways to gain credits. This extra bet at only 25 cents bumps up the overall return of the game by 3%. So, the real ‘magic’ for this slot is the extra bet that makes Tahiti a ‘slot paradise’.

Jackpot Bulletin: Winning Stories

1)While waiting at the airport...r

Christina McCarter, 41 of Tahlequah, OK was waiting for her nephew in Reno airport and had just hit for $350. while playing the nickel Wheels. Moving up to the dollar Wheel of Fortune, and betting $40. of her winnings brought a huge surprise and Megajackpot of $1,401,563. The mother of four says she will continue working and this win is the beginning of things changing for the better. “This is crazy, but this will make life better for my children.”

2) Available, Play It, Retire.

Fred Shriner says he choose a Wheel of Fortune dollar slot because “it was available and I played it.” The resident of Chino Valley, AZ is a regular at the Yavapai Casino in Prescott, AZ and after playing about $100, the big strike of $1,511,175. made him a millionaire. His first statement after the win sunk in for this former machinist was “I can retire and live comfortably.”

3) A return visit creates a millionaire

After playing at MGM Grand Detroit Casino earlier in the month, an anonymous Ohio pizza shop owner noticed some uncashed slot receipts and the return trip created a millionaire style win. While his particular Wheel of Fortune game was not available on his return visit, the wait was worth it when it became it available—to the tune of $1,367,715. The 52-year-old winner plans to pay some bills, fix up his farm and buy a new car.

Readers FYI: Current gaming news of interest.

Note: the Editor’s comments are in italics.

1) We begin this month’s FYI with some quick news items about US and Canada casinos.

ATLANTIC CITY - The New Jersey Casino Control Commission has granted the overseer of the Tropicana Hotel & Casino another four months to sell the troubled property as of mid June.

MISSOURI - There will be no new riverboat casinos in Missouri until voters have their say. A unanimous Missouri Gaming Commission on Monday agreed to a moratorium on further consideration of any casino applicants, including one pending in Sugar Creek, until at least November.

SAN JACINTO, CA - The National Indian Gaming Commission has warned a Riverside County Indian band that its casino could be closed in a ‘worst-case scenario’ if violence continues. "Closure of the facility might be necessary" if violent incidents continue near the Soboba Casino.

NEW YORK - Harrah's Entertainment Inc's debt may weaken from already distressed levels as heavy capital spending and interest payments absorb cash flows at a time when the casino operator is also facing declining gambling revenues.

RENO - Continental Airlines' announcement that it is ending service to Reno is probably not the last cutback that local air passengers will see this summer, airport officials said Friday.

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO - A new era has begun for the gaming industry in Caruthersville. Lady Luck Casino officially changed the chips, cards, game layouts and dice that were formerly owned by Casino Aztar. Isle of Capri Casinos acquired Lady Luck Caruthersville for about $45 million from an affiliate of Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex Corp. on June 10, 2007, but didn't change its name until now.

NEW MEXICO -A New Mexico tribe has opened the fourth Albuquerque area casino. Isleta Casino and Resort opened its doors on July 1. A local economist says the big-four casinos, Sandia, Santa Ana, Isleta and Route 66, rake in two-thirds of the state's gambling revenue, but he says the majority of the money is wagered by New Mexican's.

ILLINOIS - After being tied up in litigation for almost the last decade, the state's 10th casino license will be back in play very shortly, the Illinois Gaming Board announced.

WINDSOR, ONT. – U.S. gamblers, expected to make up 80 per cent of the visitors to Caesars Windsor, have started cutting back this year after spending more in 2007 than the year before.

2) Gayle: I have been curious for a long time about the penny slots that range in betting from .20 to $5. Does each betting denomination have a separate pay table, or does the machine just pay on a random spin no matter what the bet? fapoll

Fapoll: Two answers. If you are talking about a multi-denomination slot machine that offers pennies, quarter --a variety of denominations, then yes, the payouts are different. Higher denominations get better payouts.

However, if you are talking about a penny denomination ONLY slot then it does not matter -- it's a random spin. I recommend that you always bet and activate all lines, even if you are only playing a penny or two per line.

Then you can be certain you receive credits. Once your credits mount, you can afford to hit max spin occasionally. Gayle.

3) I’m trying to find information, maybe you can help.
Can you tell me if there is an online or PC game I can find of the video slot machine "All That Glitters." After researching the Internet, I came to your web site and thought maybe you could help me locate this game. Carla

Carla: like many land-based slots as this one is, these versions are not found online due to licensing agreements. I did a review of All that Glitters in the Casino Players Ezine #59 as follows: All That Glitters: WMS, 3 spins. 84-95% You probably already guessed Diamonds and Jewels; however, there is a unique feature to this slot--Cascading Reels. Hitting the spin button does not display the usual whirling reels, but a blank opening from which the sparkling jewels cascade from the top of the screen into reel spots. After any winning combo, the previous screen disappears and more cascading glitter appears. This second sparkling collection adds further bonus $$ for winning combos. This Cascading process continues again and again until one window shows up with no winners. The Jewelry Shop Bonus reveals a jewelry shop occupied by Jerry, the apprentice gem cutter and Sven the master gem cutter in the midst of rough gems and empty jewelry settings.

Now, it's your turn to choose one rough gem and either Jerry or Sven to finish a setting.

More bonus credits accumulate for completed gem settings or oops! a shattered gem.

Two shatterings and the round is at an end, but 4 gem settings completed carries additional bonus bucks. This slot is a must-see not only for the generous hits but also for the dazzling cascade feature.
