Feature Article: Slots 2008 - Atronic

Atronic introduced a varied and large inventory of slot versions at the Gaming Expo as attendees were invited to take a walk through their City of Games. Making its US debut was the Harmony Slant Top, an ergonomic cabinet design already enjoying great success in International markets. It provides players with maximum comfort and an enhanced playing experience. The Harmony Slant Top will be unveiled with a library of exciting new game titles, including Mystical Journey, Super Sphinx and Xanadu – City of Luck.

Passion Slots were shown with a bold new design and an interactive top screen that promises to take bonus rounds to a whole new level. Look for this cabinet to debut with a reel slot version of Deal or No Deal and The Game of Life.
Building on the success of Deal or No Deal, Atronic unveils two new links under this brand umbrella. Deal or No Deal--The Experience is a new linked gaming concept with three interactive bonus rounds and a multi-level progressive. Deal or No Deal Mega Deal is a Wide Area and Multi-Site progressive with two levels of jackpots. Both feature the popular “Briefcase Bonus” round that has become synonymous with the game.

For the Linked Gaming area, there is a wide array of King Kong Cash and The Game of Life titles. All of these concepts have experienced great success since their debut and the additional titles will only further enhance their popularity!

eMillions, Atronic’s award winning Wide Area Progressive Link, was shown with both a penny and nickel denomination. Atronic will feature fun game titles such as Himalayan Gold, Money Magnet and Moonlight Mansion.

The mystery driven Mystery Magic and symbol driven Hot Link, were shown with an extensive library of new game titles. All provide unique rapid hit progressive paytables, ensuring frequent wins of the progressive jackpot.
Atronic Systems exhibited tournament-style bonus concept Tournamania and flexible cashless solution Chip Cash, in addition to Chain Reaction, a unique multi-player mystery jackpot concept.
Atronic enjoys international success and it’s certainly a ‘Big Deal’.

Slots Reviews

Slot descriptions/reviews are listed by Slot Name, Manufacturer, payout range offered, (low to high) and average hit frequency if available.

1) Jackpot Deluxe: Aristocrat. 88-94%. 2 spins

The slot versions of Dolphin Treasure, Flame of Olympus and Geisha are merged into one game, however, each game features distinctive free spins and/or wild symbols.
This slot requires that you must bet all paylines and a 5-credit ante bet. The exciting difference is the possibility of winning 2, 3, or 4 progressive jackpots at once. During the bonus round and when a wild symbol for one of the base games appears, you receive either credits ranging from 50-500 or a jackpot symbol. Further, the free spins continue until an additional screen with wilds is displayed. Collect all three matching jackpot symbols for a big progressive hit. This slot is a ‘wild and crazy spin’ of delight.

2) Soul Train Mystery Progressive: IGT. 87-94%. 2 spins.

Don Cornelius is back with the familiar dance show Soul Train—this time with a 9 level MegaJackpots link. While max coins are not required, the larger bets will increase your chances of setting off the Mystery Bonus because of 9 potential progressive jackpots. The other highlight for this multi-jackpot progressive is the possibility of winning 2 out of 9 jackpots each time you enter the bonus round.
While this exciting slot offers cool soul sounds, remember--the number 9, number 9, number 9.

3) Monopoly Super Grand Hotel: Wms. 87-92%. 3 spins.

This is an upgraded version of Monopoly Grand Hotel with an impressive top box display of a luxury hotel’s room, floors, bonus credits and centered arrows depicting the elevator.
Thus, 3 or more scattered elevator symbols will begin the Elevator Free Spin Bonus whereupon selection, you receive 6-10 free spins. Watch for the Going Up arrows during this round to move towards a bonus credit amount.
The main bonus round, Tycoon Bonus starts with 3 or more hotel symbols and continues with a display of the familiar Monopoly board. Make your railroad selection and at the same time the number of hotel guests. Additionally, a set of property deed cards appears face down. Now the action begins for several bonus streams based on your choices. First, choose 5 properties to place hotels on specific squares, doubling the values if the same color is chosen.
Then, your chosen hotel guests scatter to various properties as you collect when they visit your properties. You receive additional credits for guests visiting railroads, Free Parking, Electric Co and Community Chest.
If you love the Monopoly versions as I do, then this game is surely a ‘grand’ choice.

Jackpot Bulletin: Winning Stories

Start With the First $1000.

“My husband played the machine next to me and won $1000, so I sat down behind him and played,” said Sandra Naples of Spencer, MS who was happy about her decision to visit Foxwoods Casino. After a $648,336. win at a dollar Wheel of Fortune MegaJackpot progressive, for a small bet of only $40, Naples said it was luck that guided her to that machine. She was shocked to learn that she had won the top prize. “I almost passed out,” she said. Future plans include paying off the mortgage.

Papa Wins More than $10,000.

John Williams was “just walking by and decided to give a Temple of Treasure slot a try” while playing at the Winstar Casino in OK. The electrician from Comanche, OK stated after his $346,611 strike, “at first I thought I won $10,000. I only put $10 in, so anything was okay with me.” The shocked winner will have enough for his first house payment and start a college fund for his new baby girl.

20 Years Later

It’s been 20 years since this anonymous millionaire won her last jackpot of $12,500 at the Stardust. The 82-year-old woman arrived in Vegas in 1946 from Brisbane, Australia and after a long wait won the Megabucks jackpot for $10,762,067 at the Fremont Hotel & Casino. “I love playing slot machines, especially Megabucks. I remember playing Megabucks when it first came out here back in 1987. So I feel I was owed this jackpot and I’m really happy that I never stopped playing.”
“I feel I’m blessed,” she mused. “Earlier in the afternoon, I was at another casino and won $400 on a keno machine. But the Fremont is my favorite and I came over here to get my gift. I had already played about $600 on this one machine when I started talking to it and told the machine that I was getting very frustrated. I took out another $100 and on the very next pull, it hit. I saw the Megabucks symbols fall into place and thought I won $10,000.” This millionaire’s good fortune will be spread among the church, family and a return to her homeland. “I’m the youngest of 11 children and I have one remaining brother and two sisters still living in Brisbane,” she said. “I haven’t been there in 20 years and I’m going as soon as I can.”

An Argument Produces a Jackpot Win

Sammy Zabib was getting an earful from his girlfriend for forgetting to buy her a pair of designer jeans she spotted in a casino boutique. He got up at 5 a.m. and drove three hours to Atlantic City, arriving at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa before the boutique opened. With some time to kill, he sat down at a Brazil Slingo slot machine and started playing, betting $4 a spin for about an hour
"I was just trying to kill time until the store opened so I could get her those jeans," he said. "Then the machine stopped working. I didn't know why, so I called security. They came over, took a look at it, and said, 'You won the jackpot!'"
After receiving his payout of nearly $800,000. from the casino, Zabib completed his mission, buying the pair of jeans that his girlfriend had wanted so badly.

1) Casino Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada Wants Money Back After $27,000 Mistake

An employee of Casino Regina accidentally loaded a self-redemption kiosk with a cassette containing $20 bills rather than $5 bills. Therefore, for the 1 1/2 days before the error was caught, whenever a patron went to redeem winnings or break a large bill, they got more than their actual money's worth.
While the SGC and the casino will not say how many people benefited from the error, SGC president and CEO Marty Klyne said one person alone raked in about $11,000 throughout one day. That large sum was among the $13,400 the SGC has managed to recover, in part due to surveillance footage. An undisclosed number of other patrons who made off with the money have not yet been identified.
Klyne said about $4 million moves through the property each day. Between Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw, the SGC made a profit of almost $35 million last year.

2) Look out, here comes Atlantic City’s transformation Billions of dollars, big plans set to make over the aging town

Atlantic City, reeling from competition for penny-pinching slot players, is on the cusp of a sort of salvation, as experts predict a Las Vegas-style transformation of the aging seaside town.
At least three casino operators are pursuing luxury resorts in Atlantic City even as the East Coast gambling mecca is reporting its first annual decline in gaming revenue since the first casino opened there in 1978.
• MGM Mirage is planning a $5 billion resort with at least 3,000 hotel rooms called CityCenter East.
• Revel Entertainment, with investment bank Morgan Stanley, is proposing an oceanfront resort with two hotel towers of 1,900 rooms each.
• Pinnacle Gaming, which bought and imploded the old Sands casino in Atlantic City, envisions a major resort there.

3) Vegas Casinos lost $2.6 mil on Super Bowl Betting

For only the second time since the state started reporting Super Bowl figures in 1992, Nevada sports books posted a net loss on their biggest single betting day of the year.
Nevada casinos lost $2.6 million on Sunday’s Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. The game generated $92.1 million in wagers. (In 1995, casinos lost $400,000 on the Chargers-49ers game.)

4) Slot Payout Wasn't What She Expected Suit seeks $86,000 pot that someone else won.

A 77-year-old Atlantic County woman, who refused to accept a $20,000 jackpot instead, says she was rooked out of $86,000 that she believes she won last spring playing a nickel slot machine at an Atlantic City casino.
The jackpot meter read just over $86,000 at 8:26 p.m. when she dropped a nickel into the machine, she said.
The reels stopped spinning and landed on the winning combination. Bells rang. According to the jackpot meter, the $86,000 prize was hers. Or so Domino thought. According to the suit, a Harrah's representative met Domino at the machine and congratulated her for winning $20,035.31.
A player at Trump Marina had won the $86,000 pot at 8:23 p.m., the slots supervisor explained. Because of that, the machine had been reset to the lower amount.

5) I found this interesting, especially for MS Coast players. Let me know if you agree.

BILOXI - The odds of winning at the slots or table games at the Coast casinos are about the same now as before Hurricane Katrina. Although players have claimed the slots were looser before the storm, the numbers say differently. The most recent statistics released by the Mississippi Gaming Commission show the casinos won 6.65 percent of the money bet on slots on the Coast in 2007, the exact percentage as November 2004 and almost 1 percent higher than November 2002.

6) McDermott sponsors Internet gambling tax legislation

Washington — Congressman Jim McDermott says a tax on Internet gambling could generate $8 billion to $42 billion in revenue in its first 10 years. The figures come from an analysis prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers that McDermott provided to all members of Congress. The Seattle Democrat introduced the Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act. McDermott says attempts to ban Internet gambling have been ineffective and his approach would protect consumers and subject the revenue to taxation.
