The big G2E show last November welcomed actors James Gandolfini and Steve Schirripa from the hit HBO television series The Sopranos. Leading the way for Aristocrat's new 5-reel stepper, mystery-style linked progressive jackpot product, The Sopranos series. The two initial base games are Top Boss and Welcome to the Family. They are 5-reel, 20-line and on the top of each game is a color video screen. Linked in a progressive bank, a random reward can be triggered for one of the three progressive jackpots. From lowest to highest, they are Soldier, Capo or Boss.
A third version available soon is Play to Get Made. Players will be constantly entertained by The Sopranos clips, music, animations, character images and graphics sequences.
Other innovative and award winning products are two of Aristocrat's successful Hyperlink products, Jackpot Deluxe and Bank Buster, as well as the complete range of Double Standalone Progressives including Outback Jack, Cashman Tonight and Aristocrat's new bonus bank and double standalone progressive, Banana King.
There is a range of new and innovative product categories including Power Pay, Xtra Reel Power, Xtreme Mystery, and Aristocrat's first ever multi-game multi-denomination product package, Player's World.
Aristocrat highlights its multi-terminal electronic table solutions with Interblock's electro-mechanical roulette and video blackjack and baccarat along with PokerTek's multi-station video poker product -- PokerPro.
Some of Aristocrat's new video slot themes include:
1) Multi-Line - Kenyan Gold, Turtle Treasure, Let's Go Fishin' and Spring Festival.
2) Reel Power - Dream Time, Shaman's Magic as well as Buffalo and Timberwolf both new Xtra Reel Power titles
3) 50/100 Line - 50 Dragons, Tigress, Miss Kitty and Heart of Vegas.
4) Standalone and Double Standalone Progressives - Lucky Fortune and the Magician as well as the full range of Double Standalone Progressives including Outback Jack and Cashman Tonight
5) Power Pay - Double Happiness, Tahiti Magic, Reelin' n Boppin' and Choy Sun Returns.
6) Hyperlink - Jackpot Deluxe. the brand new innovative Bank Buster theme combining a four-level progressive with six bonus features, as well as a multi-game version of Cash Express
7) Xtreme Mystery - Prosperity and Golden Pyramids
Some of Aristocrat's new stepper-reel themes include:
1) 3 and 5 Line - Big Red and Wild Cougar.
2) Multi-Line - Geisha, Sun & Moon and Liberty 7's.
3) Reel Power - Pompeii, Wild Ways and Silk Road
4) Standalone Progressive - Big Ben and the Golden Gong.
Aristocrat is licensed by over two hundred regulatory jurisdictions and its products and services are available in over ninety countries around the world.
I will be reviewing most of these new slots in the months to come. In the meantime, as usual, Aristocrat is one of the leaders not just for creativity, but adding more bonus features and ‘ways to pay’ for slot players.

1) The Game of Life: Atronic. 90-92%. 2 spins. |
This popular slot offers 3 symbols that will move you toward the five progressive jackpot levels. They are Life Tiles, a payday tile or a stop sign. These symbols allow the player to move around the LIFE game board displayed on the video screen.
A random letter bonus round is the common denominator for all Life games where the player selects from the letters L-I-F-E. At that time, your credit reward is revealed and you move upward to the Game of Life Bonus.
With frequent payouts, this slot put the excitement into The Game of Life.
|
| |
2) Indiana Jones: Raider of the Lost Ark: IGT. 88-89%. 3 spins. |
Slot players can relive the excitement of the popular movie with the 43 clips programmed into this version. Line up 5 Indiana Jones symbols for the top progressive jackpot at this 5-reel game that employs both video and mechanical wheels for bonus rounds.
Three bonus symbols activate the Raiders of the Lost Ark bonus round and movie clip.
You are then asked to spin the wheel and collect the rewards from multipliers of between 25-1000X. Spin, watch and collect the rewards as Indy offers up a rousing slots adventure.
|
| |
3) Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: IGT. 87-93%. 2 spins |
The cast of characters are all present and for each symbol, there are 10 different movie clips.
MegaJackpots wild area progressive is the top prize, which resets at $5 million.
Two outstanding bonus events are Jedi Training and the Cloud City Bonus.
Both events are based upon building up bonus credits. Jedi Training Bonus displays an image of Yoda, the pointy-eared creature who is Master of the Fore and trainer of the Jedi warriors.
During this bonus round, the player spins the wheel displaying credit amounts and multipliers.
If a multiplier is chosen in sequence before a credit amount, these are added together until a credit amount is chosen and your total win is determined.
The Cloud City Bonus is a free spin event with a twist. The bonus begins with a Han Solo symbol on the first reel and Princess Leia symbol on the fifth. Free spins continue until Han Solo and Boba Fett symbols land on the reels at which time, a second free spin round kicks in utilizing the top box wheel.
There’s more in that the Han Solo symbol is an expanding wild symbol meaning that the landing spot turns the entire reel into a free spin zone.
While the excitement of Star Wars models continues in the slots playground, the innovative features of this model are sure to be a hit with other slots in the future.
Therefore, ‘the force will be with us’ for a long time.

Bet the Max to hit the Max. |
Janice G. from Katy, TX won a progressive Wheel of Fortune jackpot of $812,467. at Hollywood Casino, Bay St. Louis.
“I kept looking at that machine and it kept calling me to come play,” said Janice.
She put 75 cents in her first pull, 50 cents on the second and 75 cents for the final pull that struck for the huge win, therefore, a total bet of only $2. Janice and her hubby Sam had already pocketed $30 on a previous slot machine before she moved to the Wheel slot.

1) Gaming officials say they're ready to bet on the Web
Gaming companies are well positioned for the eventual spread of legalized Internet gambling to the United States. Terry Lanni, MGM Mirage's chairman and chief executive officer, said the company's first venture into Internet gaming may have been unsuccessful financially, but it laid the groundwork for the company to return when the time is right. Lanni believes it will happen sooner…although he did not give a time. Lanni also said casino companies would be able to make up for time lost to the many of foreign online sites now in operation because they will be able to bring sense of comfort to users familiar with their brick-and-mortar properties.

2) Colorado: 3 Black Hawk casinos face thousands of dollars in fines for having defective software in slot machines on the gaming floor.
The Isle of Capri, the state's largest casino, had five slots with the revoked software, the Riviera Black Hawk had three and the Golden Gulch Casino had one, Burmania said Thursday.
The casinos face up to $25,000 in fines per violation, though the fines are likely to range from $250 to $1,000 per device, based on penalties levied previously for similar infractions.
Fines will be determined over the next couple of months, Burmania said.
He said the division's independent gaming laboratory found that the software's bill counters were unable to handle numbers larger than 32,767 for any bill denomination. Once a machine's bill counter surpassed that number, it would jump to 94,901,760.

3) Missouri Casinos Want to Toss Loss Limit:
Casino companies say getting rid of the loss limit could generate more money for schools, while critics say it would make problem gamblers more vulnerable.
Casino interests long have argued that the state loses high rollers' business -- and thus revenue -- to other states by limiting each gambler's purchase of credits to $500 every two hours. The competition is expected to increase when Kansas develops a destination resort casino near the Village West entertainment district in western Wyandotte County.
Troy Stremming, the chief governmental affairs officer for Ameristar in Kansas City, said that passage of the initiative would help Missouri casinos compete on a level playing field with operations where gaming is not restricted by a loss limit.
Besides the buy-in limit, Missouri gamblers are required to use player-tracking cards, which monitor losses during play.

4) A Strategy up Their Sleeves:
I knew that the book, Bringing Down the House was a bit hit with blackjack players; however, the NY Times reports the phenomenon and the growing industry the best-seller has created.
NYTimes: For the last seven months, the five friends — including a paralegal, a beer distributor and a pool cleaner — have been hitting the casinos in Atlantic City and Connecticut, risking their $50,000 stake in hope of winning hundreds of thousands of dollars by a strategy known as card counting.
Inspired by Ben Mezrich’s bestseller, “Bringing Down the House,” a 2002 chronicle of a group of MIT math whizzes who collectively won millions in Las Vegas in the 1990s, the team began visiting casinos in June, joining many others who came to card counting through the same route. The card-counters’ ranks will likely swell even more this spring with the release of “21,” a film based on Mr. Mezrich’s book.

5) Internet Gambling Ban: Why You Should Oppose It
This is an informative news item that should be of interest to all casino players, regardless of whether you oppose or agree with the online gaming ban.
Fox News: It's bad enough that the federal government feels it's proper and appropriate to tell American citizens what they're permitted to do on their own time in their own homes with their own money. But it's also willing to spend tens of billions of dollars of money paid to the government by those same citizens in the form of taxes to ensure it retains that power, and that it's jurisdiction to enforce that power covers the entire globe.
The other reason even non-gamblers ought to be concerned about all of this is that it will be difficult for the government to enforce this ban without giving law enforcement some exceptionally broad powers. Federal authorities can't arrest the owners of gaming sites because they're based offshore, in countries where gambling is legal (unless they're foolish enough to come to the U.S.). The only option, then, is to go after the gamblers themselves. That means deputizing banks, credit card companies, and Internet Service Providers to start monitoring their customers spending and web surfing habits. Because the penalties against these companies for violating the law are likely to be severe and because the law specifically exempts them from liability for over-enforcement, your bank and ISP are likely to err on the side of banning legal transactions and erroneously reporting you to federal authorities than to err on the side of leaving you alone.
