Suggestions for Casino Players Ezine via email.

1).
Q.I have been reading your advice on playing the slots. I would like to know while playing a machine, should I cash out every time I win? Does that have any effect on the machine? Do you think that using your players’ card in the machine has any effect on winning?
A.When you cash out every time, it does not affect the machine but it sure affects your bankroll and that's the reason you do it. After any win, I suggest you try 3-5 more max spins and make the decision whether to stay or move on. Also, set a stop-limit on when you cash out, (i.e. at 300 credits you cash out--or whatever amount you determine). A slot card does not change anything as far as payouts; however, the big plus is that you are gathering points towards freebies that you can add to your gambling bankroll.
2).
Q.My question is specifically about - IGT's Sizzlin' 7’s, but it could be directed towards other similar games.
I usually play max. coins except when I get any kind of win, and then on the next "pull", I will play one coin less to help stretch my playtime. Statistically speaking, I was wondering if this is viable play or should I always play max. coins? This type of slot seems to have a high hit frequency. So, I was wondering if this method of play has merit?
I generally always start out with 3-7 pulls and if the slot gives me no play, I move on.
A.
I recommend the latter in your question in that you should always play max. coins because with the random selection of slot payouts, back-to-back pays can occur.
3).
Q. Are quarter slots tighter? How much bankroll should one start with for quarter slots?
A. The higher denominations ($1+) will pay out more percentage-wise; however, you require a larger bankroll. As far as quarters bankroll, it can be from the low end of $200 to $1000+ depending on your comfort level. Tip: begin with quarters and move up with your winnings.
4).
Q. How are progressives determined to pay out? Is there a certain jackpot, or certain number of spins, and how is it determined what casino it hits in? Is it all random or does any of the above play into it.
A. Random is the key word here, therefore the payout, casino location, number of spins are not pre-determined nor could be. There is a superstition among Vegas locals that Mega-jackpot progressives hit after new casinos open, but that has been disproved by two giant wins at the old Desert Inn and Palace Station--go figure? Additionally, I suggest that you not begin your slots experience with progressives, but with basic slots to build your bankroll, as progressives require a larger bankroll and some payouts are as low as 80%.
5).
Q. I am looking for a tutorial for Triple Bonus Poker. I am very confident that my Double Double Bonus strategy is hurting me on the three and five play machines! At max. credits I am having trouble even thinking about all the mistakes I've been making! Help - Please!
A. Help is on the way. Triple Double Bonus pay schedule offers 4000 coins payout for 4 Aces with 5th card of a 2, 3 or 4--same as for a Royal Flush, however payout for 3 of a kind is reduced to 10. Four 2, 3 or 4’s with a 5th card of 2, 3 or 4 pays 2000.
Strategy: Aces with a winning fifth card and as always, a Royal is the goal here, so the strategy is to hold the ace only when dealt with other high cards (Jacks or better) not suited.
- If dealt a suited ace and face, then you will hold both.
- If dealt full house with 3 aces, keep the aces only.
Not only is there the reduced pay of 10 coins for 3-of-a-kind, but the overall return for this game is a lowly 98.02%. I suggest this version be played only with winnings from other VP games.
6)
Q. I've seen "Spin Poker" & "Spin Poker Deluxe" machines in quite a few casinos. Are there strategies for playing these games? Each machine offers a few selections of play (Deuces Wild) (Bonuses: Double; Double, Double; Super Aces).
A. I did some research for this question, as I am skeptical of any VP game that is not full pay and has not been around for a long time.
As for strategy, there’s no change from regular strategy for single line games. You want to look for full-pay schedules: e.g., 9/6 Jacks+, 9/5 Deuces, 10/7 or 10/6 Double Bonus, etc.
To my delightful surprise, I found the overall payback %’s for this game to be:
Jacks or better 9/6=99.996%, Deuces 9/5=100.067% and Double Bonus 10/6=100.06%.
Therefore, if you find the full pay schedules as described above, the returns can be better than a regular single payline—always a plus for VP players.
7)
Q. I have a sincere, but strange question. I have won playing 10-7 full pay Double Bonus Video Poker. If I told you, I have won 7 straight trips (51 out of 58 winning days), would you say this is A) Impossible. B)Very Very Lucky or C) Simply a Hot Streak? I play at least 11 hours a day. I'd like to hear any comments.
A. First, Congrats on your win. This is a hot streak and I have had several, especially with this version. Just be sure, you are insulated against that 'cold streak'.

1) Opponent Poker: IGT. 2 spins |
For video poker players, there are standards with this version, but also some delightful surprises. The standards are a 5 credit bet per hand, pay schedules and available in familiar versions of Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Double Bonus and Double Double Bonus.
Additionally, your poker hand is viewed within a scene against two opponents. For an extra 5 credits, you select two opponents from six characters.
All three participants are dealt the same five cards each drawing from a different deck.
With the bonus side bet, the best hand takes the winnings of all three hands. In the case of a tie, you can either split the pot or continue to play as the pot grows.
You can opt for a split pot at any time, thereby taking a third portion, except in the case of a Royal Flush. If all three players hit the royal, the bonus pot is split three ways.
While the technique of bluffing is not applicable here, players are certain to feel the excitement of poker with this game.

2) Multi-Game Poker: Bally. 94-99.84%. 2 spins |
This VP edition ups the ante with this slot that offers 10 video poker games. The VP versions are Jokers Wild, Bonus Aces, Double Crown Poker, Double Double Crown Poker, Triple Kicker Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus Poker, Triple Bonus Poker and Double Double Bonus Poker
As with any VP game, be sure to examine the pay schedules available to
assure you are getting the optimal return for the game you are playing. Denominations range from pennies up to $100.
I remember how disappointed I was when Bally¹s GameMaker series disappeared, but now... it's baaaaack stronger than ever

Mega Happy, Happy! |
An Ohio woman chose her favorite slot, a Wheel of Fortune $5 machine at Caesars Palace in Vegas while in town to celebrate her birthday. The best of gifts came her way with a huge MegaJackpot payday of $2,878,912. “I saw the three symbols, and I was looking up to see what I had won,” she stated. “I thought I was dreaming when I realized I had hit the jackpot.”
Future plans include paying some bills and continue working.

Penny Jackpot History is Made |
It was a certain feeling that led a 66 year old Nevada man to play Penny Megabucks at the Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Gambling Hall.
The unusual move by this regular VP player made history with a gigantic $18.8 million win.
“I put in $100 and after playing $44, I saw five eagles line up and thought I had won about $3000,” the anonymous winner said. “Then I looked up and the large jackpot on top of the machine had switched from $18 million to $10 million. Then I knew I had won something big.” A trip to Australia and paying some bills are in the future for this new millionaire.

MegaBucks Again |
Another anonymous winner, but this time with a ‘magic’ story. A 71-year old, retired interior decorator, living in Vegas since 2000 was heading to the Orleans Hotel to see ‘The Magic of Rick Thomas’ but not before inserting $20 and taking a couple of spins at a Megabucks machine. This unscheduled stop resulted in a huge strike of over $12 million.
“After several pulls, I saw the first Megabucks symbol fall into place, then the second and then the third. It was all in slow motion, watching them drop down one at a time. But I knew right away I had won.”
